Harvest season reminders for the Hobby Farmer
Preparing your farm equipment for harvesting is a yearlong commitment, not just a seasonal activity. There’s no off-season for the hobby farmer. In fact, after harvest, it’s already time to get ready for next year.
Here are a few reminders for you Hobby Famers of what you need to be doing in order for next year’s harvest to be a good one.
Supply check
Make sure you have everything need for the crops you want to plant. Having what you need at your disposal will help you have less downtime and reach higher yields.
Crop planning
If you don’t already know, now’s the time to figure out what you want to plant. Different plants have different needs and sometimes that requires you to prepare the soil earlier than others might need.
Soil Prep
Time to get those fields cleared. Whether you’re tilling it under or removing it wholesale – now’s when you want to start considering how you’re going to get the right amount of nutrients back into your soil for next year’s crop.
Get your ROXOR and equipment ready
After the season is through, it’s a good time to take stock of any damage or wear and tear your equipment might have suffered in season. Schedule routine maintenance to make sure all your machines are tuned up and running smooth without leaks or strain. Also, it’s always good to replenish your stock of extra replacement bearings, seals, roller chains and belts to that you’re not caught waiting for parts. The less downtime, the better.
These are just some of the things every Hobby Farmer needs to do before going into the next year. It’s a lot of work, but with a ROXOR at your side you can count on staying strong through next harvest.
